Excess molar volumes of the binary mixtures of polyethylene glycol 300 with ethoxyethanols at various temperatures

Densities at T = (293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15) K in the binary liquid mixtures of polyethylene glycol 300 with 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethanol, or 2-{2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy}ethanol have been measured over the entire range of mixture compositions. These data have been used to compute the excess molar volumes. The excess molar volumes are negative over the entire range of composition for all studied mixtures. The results are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions in the bulk binary mixtures.     

On the complexity of deriving position specific score matrices from positive and negative sequences

Position-specific score matrices (PSSMs) have been applied to various problems in computational molecular biology. In this paper, we study the following problem: given positive examples (sequences) and negative examples (sequences), find a PSSM which correctly discriminates between positive and negative examples. We prove that this problem is solved in polynomial time if the size of a PSSM is bounded by a constant. On the other hand, we prove that this problem is NP-hard if the size is not bounded. We also prove hardness results for deriving multiple PSSMs and related problems.

Analysis of the Euler–Poisson equations by methods of power geometry and normal form

New approaches and methods for studying non-linear problems are applied to the classical problem of the motion of a heavy rigid body about a fixed point, i.e., to the system of Euler–Poisson equations. All the asymptotic expansions of the solutions of the Kowalewski equations, to which the Euler–Poisson equations reduce when certain constraints are imposed on the parameters, are found using power geometry. They form 24 families. Then all the exact solutions of the Kowalewski equations of a specific class (which includes almost all the known exact solutions) are found on the basis of these expansions. Five new families of such solutions are found. Instead of the conventional technique of studying the global integrability of the Euler–Poisson equations, studying their local integrability near stationary and periodic solutions is proposed. Normal forms are used for this purpose. Sets of real stationary solutions, in the vicinity of which these equations are locally integrable, are discovered using them. Other real stationary solutions, in the vicinity of which the Euler–Poisson equations are locally non-integrable, are also found. This is established using the theory of resonant normal forms developed and computer calculations of the coefficients of a normal form.     

Crystal and molecular structure of 1R,3S,5S,7R,10R-3,6,6,10,14-Pentamethyltricyclo[10.3.0.05,7]pentadeca-11,14-diene-1, 10-dihydroxy-2,13-dione (Japodagrol), C20H28O4

A new cytotoxic macrocyclic diterpenoid named Japodagrol, C₂₀H₂₈O₄, has been isolated from the ornamental plantJatropha podagrica, family Euphorbiaceae, grown in Nigeria. The structure of the title compound, C₂₀H₂₈O₄, was solved by X-ray analysis.M _r =332.44, monoclinic space groupC2,a=23.285(4),b=6.5105(12),c=12.505(3) Å,=98.504(17),V=1874.8 ų,Z=4,D _c =1.178 Mg/m³. CuK radiation (graphite crystal monochromator, =1.54184 A), (CuK)=6.13 cm^–1,F(000)=720,T=290 K. Final conventionalR factor=0.035,R _w =0.038 for 3349 observed reflections. The structure was solved with the programDirdif. The 5-membered ring is closed to a half-chair form. The compound contains inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds.     

云南山竹子中的一个新奇的苯甲酮类化合物

多异戊烯基取代的苯甲酮类化合物存在于多种藤黄科植物中, 具有多种显著的生物活性. 为了进一步发现生物活性成分, 对藤黄科藤黄属植物云南山竹子的枝条和果实进行了研究, 从中分离得到了两个多异戊烯基取代的苯甲酮类化合物, 其中一个为新化合物. 经多种波谱方法确定了两个化合物的化学结构, 一个新化合物命名为藤黄酮K, 另一个化合物为Cambogin.     

54例白血病患者血清硒含量分析

以催化极谱法测定了５４例白血病患者血清硒含量。结果表明，急淋、急粒患者血清硒含量均低于正常对照组，慢粒及急、慢粒经治疗缓解者血清硒含量与正常对照组间均无显著性差异，提示低硒状态只存在于急性患者，且随病情缓解后血硒水平趋于正常，慢粒与血硒含量没有明显的相关关系。     

N-(取代)对三氟甲基苯基-1,3,5-三取代吡唑-4-酰胺衍生物的合成与生物活性

设计合成10个未见文献报道的N-对三氟甲基苯基-1,3,5-三取代吡唑-4-酰胺类化合物, 其结构经元素分析, ¹H NMR, IR 确证. 初步生物活性测试结果表明, 部分化合物对水稻纹枯病、小麦赤霉病、辣椒枯萎病和马铃薯晚疫病有一定的杀菌活性.     

2-(3-吡唑基)咪唑并[4,5-f]邻菲咯啉的合成

以邻菲咯啉-5,6二-酮和3醛-基吡唑为原料,合成了一种新的配体——2-(3吡-唑基)咪唑并[4,5-f]邻菲咯啉(1),其结构经1H NMR,IR及MS表征。研究了1的电子吸收和荧光性质。
